Ways To Get A US Passport Renewal Expedited

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

It is possible to have a passport renewed in one day. In an emergency, you can have it renewed in as little as a couple of hours. There are several situations that cause a person to need their travel documentation renewed within a day. For instance, they may have an emergency that has caused them to plan for travel at once and have a passport that needs to be renewed. There are some things to know about getting your passport renewal expedited the same day.

Same Day Renewal

Keep in mind that you will only be able to receive a renewal in the same day from a regional agency. You can get your travel papers renewed by mail but it will take two or three weeks for them to get to you. For people who need them immediately, this is not a good option. If you need to have your document renewed right away, there are two ways you can do it.

Passport Agency

There are only two ways for you to renew your travel documents in the same day. The first way is to personally visit your nearest passport agency and the second it to use a professional expediting agency. The decision is dependent on how close you are to the local agency and how much time you have to complete the process. If all you need is a passport replacement, the agency will handle that too.

Local Office

To get things going, you will have to locate the regional office and set up an appointment. At the time of our appointment, you will need to show confirmation of it to the security person and go through a security checkpoint. When you check in with the appointment desk, you will receive a number that will be called when it is your turn. While you wait, you should complete the application to give to an agent along with your supporting documents.

Updated Photos

When you hand in your application, it must be accompanied by two photos and your recent travel papers. If your papers have been damaged, you will not be able to renew them, you will be required to apply for a new document instead. In the event your name has changed you can provide proof of the legal action by showing a marriage license or divorce papers.

Evidence

You will also be required to provide valid evidence that there is an urgency to renew the travel papers quickly. Also, the travel itinerary must be supplied that shows the departure date. If you are to travel the same say as your appointment, make sure to let the agent know.

Professional Agencies

Individuals who are not able to get to a regional agency can hire a professional expediter to make certain they get their travel documents renewed quickly. Expediting professionals are registered with the United States Department of State. Once you complete their application, they will submit your paperwork at the regional agency to renew your document the same day.
