Creative Supevisor (El Segundo)
Friday, January 20th, 2012Leader in the toy industry, Digital team seeks an enthusiastic, dynamic, Interactive Art Director who will work hand-in-hand with the cross-functional digital team to establish a clear design direction for branded websites, bringing brands to life on a variety of interactive platforms (online, social media, video game consoles, handhelds, mobile, etc.).
We need someone to art direct and lead the establishment of a clear design direction for branded websites. Working with team members on creative development, the candidate will be responsible for managing a team of designers, leading the development of creative concepts and overseeing the implementation of fully realized visual solutions. This person will also be the steward of their assigned brand(s) ensuring solid, unified look and feel across multiple digital platforms (i.e., Internet, mobile, console).
KEY RESULTS AREAS
1. Collaboration: Work closely with an in-house cross vertical team (including Creative Leads, Designers, Producers, Marketing Managers, Content Specialists, Developers, and Brand Partners) to conceptualize and implement creative solutions for online games, activities, advertisements, microsites, and site updates.
2. Execution: Lead, support, and manage the implementation of brand continuity to the targeted website demographic with internal team members, vendors and external partners.
3. Innovation: Lead the contribution and development of creative concepts and demonstrate strong knowledge and point of view in brainstorms and meetings that deliver on business objectives and are leading edge.
4. Leadership: Oversee, inspire and mentor a team of designers while managing and supporting their workload and schedules to ensure on-time, on-brand and on-budget deliverables
5. Best Practices: Demonstrate unwavering dedication and enthusiasm for quality work while staying current with the creative landscape, new technologies (i.e., emerging platforms, creative development best practices, etc.), and target demographic.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the Senior Manager of Creative, this candidate will lead the implementation of the design direction and visual storytelling while working diligently and efficiently to meet tight deadlines on multiple projects. Flexibility to shift from high-level ideation to tactical execution on the fly is a must. Projects include the creative leadership of: site-wide updates, seasonal content releases, product advertisements, promotional motion graphics, online games, and graphical user interfaces. In addition, the supervisor supports the creative head by partnering in vendor selection, facilitating staff meetings, rolling out best practices across the organization, and more as needed.
SKILLS >> Strong communication and presentation skills are required. Must be able to develop quality design and creative concepts in a timely manner. Should be able to determine size and arrangement of all assets by creating solutions based on available space, knowledge of layout principles, user interface design (touch-screen and interactive) and aesthetic design concepts. Needs to have a wide degree of creativity, latitude, knowledge and understanding of the web medium — more specifically its users/community, the newest inventions/technologies, cross-platform capabilities (i.e., mobile, Internet, etc.) and all facets associated with Internet-based activities/applications. Must have an appreciation for Mattel brands while creating compelling and innovative online content. This candidate must also approach projects with a global mindset.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Minimum 6+ years experience of interactive web design or related field required. • Must have 2+ years experience managing and leading a team. • Proficient in Flash and Photoshop with a strong working knowledge of HTML, HTML5, Adobe and Microsoft creative suites. • Must have a strong grasp of interactive production process and best practices. • A history and understanding of creating COPPA/CARU compliant content for kids is a plus. • Strong interest and experience designing casual games, online activities, multiplayer games is also a plus. • Personal interest in following tech/online trends, kid trends, fashion, and pop culture is desirable.
EDUCATION >> • An Undergraduate Degree from a four-year university or equivalent degree from an Art College is required.
